The Century of Rebirth art show is being sponsored and produced in Sacramento, California, in remembrance of the victims of the Armenian Genocide which is observed as officially commencing in Istanbul, Turkey on April 24, 1915. This centennial commemoration is to celebrate the revival of the Armenian spirit and the gratitude of the survivors to their adopted United States homeland.
Scheduled for Sacramento’s “Second Saturday” art gallery walk on April, 11, 2015, the opening night reception will feature paintings, sculpture, music and poetry by a number of local Armenian American artists. Refreshments from the Armenian cookbook will be served. The reception will be open to the public free of charge.
The art works will feature paintings of Jenny Apekian and ceramic “Spirit Houses” of Lee Kavaljian. The show is being curated by Melinda Johnson of Sacramento.
